What It Is For
Alka-Seltzer Original contains aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is used to relieve mild to moderate pain, reduce fever, relieve symptoms of colds and flu, and help with rheumatic, muscular and joint pain, strains and sprains.

Effervescent aspirin tablets that dissolve in water. Provides pain relief, reduces high temperature and has anti-inflammatory properties. Can be used for headache, migraine, backache, nerve pain, period pain, toothache, sore throat, muscular aches and pains, and cold or flu symptoms.
Who Is This Product For?
Suitable for adults and children over 16 years. Aspirin should not normally be given to children under 16 years unless a doctor tells you to.
How To Use
Dissolve the tablets in water before taking. Adults and children over 16 years: take two tablets dissolved in half a glass (100 ml) of water every 4 hours as required. Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours. Do not take for more than 3 days in a row unless advised by a doctor.
Ingredients
Each tablet contains aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) 324 mg. Other ingredients are sodium hydrogen carbonate and citric acid. Each tablet contains 477 mg sodium.
Important Warnings
Do not take if you are allergic to aspirin, other salicylates or any ingredient, or if you have had hypersensitivity reactions to aspirin or other NSAIDs. Do not use if you have severe kidney, liver or heart problems, a bleeding disorder, a current or previous stomach or duodenal ulcer, or if you take high-dose methotrexate. Do not take during the last 3 months of pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Check with a doctor or pharmacist if you take other medicines or have asthma, gout, gastrointestinal problems, circulation problems or other relevant conditions.
Possible Side Effects
Possible side effects include stomach pain, heartburn, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, dizziness, ringing in the ears, increased bleeding or bruising, asthma symptoms and kidney problems. Serious allergic reactions, severe skin reactions or gastrointestinal bleeding require urgent medical attention.
Storage
Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Store below 25°C in a dry place and keep in the original carton. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the pack.
