Our NHS Pharmacy First service gives you fast access to trusted healthcare advice and treatment for common conditions directly from your local pharmacy team.
Support may be available for Sore throat, Sinusitis, Uncomplicated UTI, Impetigo, Infected insect bites , Shingles and Acute Earache. Where suitable, our pharmacist can provide treatment during your consultation without the need to see a GP first.

How does Pharmacy First work?
Our pharmacist will ask you a few questions about your symptoms and medical history. If Pharmacy First is suitable, they can provide advice and, where appropriate, NHS treatment without you needing to see a GP first.
What conditions can Pharmacy First help with?
Pharmacy First can support selected conditions including:
Sore throat, Sinusitis, Uncomplicated UTI, Impetigo, Infected insect bites, Shingles.
Acute Earache – In-store only
Our pharmacist may need to check the ear before advising on suitable treatment.
Eligibility depends on your age, symptoms and clinical assessment.
Who is eligible for Pharmacy First?
Sore Throat 5yr +
Sinusitis 12yr +
Uncomplicated UTI 16-64yrs
Impetigo 1yr +
Infected insect bites 1yr +
Shingles 18yr +
Acute Earache (In Pharmacy Only) 1-17yrs
Eligibility depends on the condition, your age, symptoms and medical history. Our pharmacist will check this during your consultation and advise the most suitable next step.
Do I need an appointment?
You can call us or visit the pharmacy for advice. Same-day support may be available, but this depends on pharmacist availability and your symptoms.
Is Pharmacy First free?
The NHS consultation is free. If medicine is supplied, standard NHS prescription charges may apply unless you are exempt.
Will I always get antibiotics?
No. Our pharmacist will only recommend antibiotics or other treatment if clinically appropriate. In some cases, self-care advice or referral to another healthcare service may be more suitable.
Is Delivery Free?
Click & Collect is free.
Same-day local delivery is available for £2.99 to help cover driver costs.
A small £0.99 service fee applies to online orders.
