Important Information About Our Pharmacy First Service

Chrystalls Connect provides access to NHS Pharmacy First services through Chrystalls Pharmacy.

Pharmacy First consultations are subject to NHS eligibility criteria and pharmacist assessment. Completing an online form or requesting a consultation does not guarantee that treatment will be supplied.

Treatment will only be provided where the pharmacist considers it clinically appropriate and within the scope of the NHS Pharmacy First service.

Clinical Assessment

Before treatment can be supplied, you may be asked questions about:

  • Your symptoms
  • How long you have had them
  • Your age
  • Medical conditions
  • Current medicines
  • Allergies
  • Previous treatment
  • Any other information needed to assess suitability

You must provide complete, truthful and accurate information.

False, incomplete or misleading information may result in the consultation or treatment being delayed, declined or cancelled.

Conditions Covered

The NHS Pharmacy First service covers specific clinical pathways and eligibility criteria.

Depending on your symptoms and circumstances, the pharmacist may:

  • Provide advice
  • Recommend an appropriate treatment
  • Supply treatment where clinically suitable
  • Refer you to another healthcare service
  • Ask you to attend Chrystalls Pharmacy for an in-person assessment

Not every condition can be assessed or treated remotely.

For example, some ear conditions require an in-person examination before treatment can be considered.

Online and In-Person Consultations

Where appropriate, part of your Pharmacy First assessment may take place remotely.

However, the pharmacist may ask you to attend Chrystalls Pharmacy in person where a physical examination or further assessment is required.

Please provide accurate contact details so that our pharmacy team can contact you if additional information is needed.

Pharmacist Approval

All Pharmacy First treatment decisions are based on clinical assessment and NHS pathway requirements.

A request for treatment does not guarantee supply.

The pharmacist may decline treatment or refer you to another healthcare professional where this is considered safer or more appropriate.

Patient safety and appropriate care come before the supply of treatment.

Medicines Supplied Through Pharmacy First

Any medicine supplied through the Pharmacy First service is intended only for the patient who has been assessed.

You should:

  • Use the medicine only as directed
  • Read any information supplied with it
  • Not share the medicine with another person
  • Seek further advice if symptoms worsen or do not improve
  • Contact an appropriate healthcare service if you develop severe or concerning symptoms

Delivery and Collection

Where suitable, approved Pharmacy First treatment may be available through:

  • Click & Collect from Chrystalls Pharmacy
  • Same-Day Local Delivery, where available
  • Secure tracked postal delivery, where appropriate

Some treatments or consultations may require in-person attendance and therefore may not be suitable for postal or remote supply.

Full delivery conditions are available on our Delivery Information page.

Payments and Refunds

Where a charge applies to any non-NHS element of an order or service, payment may initially be authorised while the order is reviewed.

Any payment, cancellation or refund will be handled in accordance with our Payment Policy and Refunds & Returns Policy.

This does not affect your statutory rights.

Privacy and Communication

We may contact you regarding your Pharmacy First consultation, clinical questions, treatment, delivery or follow-up care.

Personal and health information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection requirements.

When to Seek Further Medical Help

Pharmacy First is designed for specific common conditions and is not a replacement for urgent or emergency medical care.

Seek appropriate urgent medical help if:

  • Symptoms are severe or rapidly worsening
  • You feel seriously unwell
  • You experience difficulty breathing
  • You have severe pain or other concerning symptoms
  • The pharmacist advises you to seek further medical assessment
