Nurofen for Children Double Strength – Patient Information Summary
Active Ingredient:
- Ibuprofen 200mg per 5ml (Oral Suspension, Sugar-Free)
Uses:
- Pain relief: Teething pain, toothache, headache, sore throat, earache, muscle pain, minor sprains.
- Fever reduction: Including post-immunisation fever.
Dosage & Administration:
- For oral use. Shake well before use.
- Use the provided measuring syringe or spoon.
- Doses should be given every 6-8 hours, with a maximum of 3 doses in 24 hours.

- For post-immunisation fever (3-6 months):
- 1.25ml dose, followed by another 1.25ml dose after 6 hours if needed.
- Do not exceed 2 doses in 24 hours.
Do Not Use If:
- Your child is under 3 months or under 5kg.
- Allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin, or other NSAIDs.
- Has a history of stomach ulcers, bleeding disorders, severe kidney/liver/heart problems.
- Has chickenpox (consult a doctor).
- Has severe dehydration or asthma worsened by NSAIDs.
Warnings & Precautions:
- If symptoms persist for more than 3 days (or more than 24 hours for fever in babies under 6 months), seek medical advice.
- Avoid using with other NSAIDs or aspirin.
- Consult a doctor before use if your child has underlying health conditions.
Possible Side Effects:
- Common: Stomach pain, nausea, indigestion.
- Rare: Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing), severe stomach issues (vomiting blood, black stools), kidney problems.
- Seek immediate medical attention for serious side effects.
Storage Instructions:
- Store below 25°C. Do not refrigerate.
- Use within 6 months of opening.
