    What is Mounjaro?

Mounjaro contains the active substance tirzepatide, used to manage blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes and to assist with weight loss and maintenance.

    Who Can Use This Product?

Mounjaro is suitable for adults aged 18 years and over who:

    • Have type 2 diabetes and require improved blood sugar control.
    • Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 kg/m² or greater (obesity).
    • Have a BMI of 27 kg/m² to less than 30 kg/m² (overweight) with weight-related health problems such as prediabetes, high blood pressure, abnormal blood lipid levels, or a history of cardiovascular events.

Mounjaro should be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

    How Does Mounjaro Work?

Tirzepatide regulates appetite, providing a sense of fullness, reducing hunger, and decreasing food cravings. This helps lower calorie intake and supports weight loss. Additionally, it aids in controlling blood sugar levels by enhancing insulin secretion and reducing glucagon levels.

    Directions for Use

Administer Mounjaro once weekly as a subcutaneous injection in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. The dosing schedule is as follows:

    • Starting dose: 2.5 mg once weekly for the first 4 weeks.
    • After 4 weeks: Increase to 5 mg once weekly.
    • If additional glycaemic control is needed: Your doctor may increase the dose in 2.5 mg increments after at least 4 weeks on the current dose, up to a maximum of 15 mg once weekly.

If you miss a dose and the next scheduled dose is more than 4 days away, administer the missed dose as soon as possible. If less than 4 days remain until the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume the regular schedule.

    Warnings and Precautions

    • Do not use Mounjaro if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients.
    • Consult your doctor before use if you have severe gastrointestinal disease, pancreatitis, or diabetic retinopathy.
    • Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and constipation. These symptoms usually subside over time. Seek medical attention if you experience severe abdominal pain or signs of pancreatitis.
